Celebration
IE Business School operations professor Luis Miravitlles is one of those people who gives off instant good vibes. Although he didn’t actually say it, I can picture him going around saying “So far, so good…!”, because he believes that just the fact that we’re alive means we have a lot be happy about.
In this video entitled “Celebration” he tells us a nice personal story centered around famous architect Antonio Gaudi. Apart from all that, Prof. Miravitlles is a consultant, a regular article contributor, and, more interestingly, a ghost writer…No, he didn´t tell me who for…Sorry!!!
Literally Jammy
IE University Law Professor Soledad Atienza has two passions – making marmalades and jams, and reading long books. Finding out how she combines these two passions is not only entertaining, it also fires the imagination, as well as being very instructive!!!
Prof. Atienza is just awesome to be around because she’s one of those people who makes your life easier without making a big deal of it and without wanting anything in return. Not quite what you’d expect of a lawyer, or of most people for that matter.
In this video she reveals that there is life beyond the law, no matter how important law is for everyone’s lives. Enjoy!!!
Collage
Philosophy Professor Julián Montaño has the rare ability to combine hard research with meaningful thinking about daily life.
Here he argues that in today’s world we can create our own identity using the cultural material that technology has placed at our disposal, much like a collage. The way he explains how social status has been shaped through the ages is fascinating stuff!
Prof. Montaño is conversant with a wide range of subjects ranging from aesthetics to the philosophy of language… All I can add is that it’s a privilege just to sit and talk with him about anything…
The Source
If you listen to IE University Design Thinking Professor Andrew McCarthy for a second, you’ll get the impression that he’s pumping out knowledge from a bottomless well. He’s so well read, so energetic and full of life, you can’t help but have a great time.
In this video he compares New York and Madrid, the digital and the analogical world, all this through Vermeer and Goya. It’s just a shame I could only shoot one video…
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed shooting it!
P.S. Andrew Peter Wallace McCarthy is a designer, innovation consultant and design thinking facilitator. He studied philosophy, political science, and the history of science and mathematics before becoming a creative director. He speaks and moderates at conferences and his voice has been featured in ads and audiobooks.
Another Way
Management Prof. Leticia Ponce has been volunteering at a retirement home for the last seven years, helping people who require assistance with washing and dressing. She says it has made her more patient, compassionate and grateful in her day-to-day life, and that she feels she has received much more than she has given.
Moreover, volunteering has changed her approach to management. That’s why she talks about how there is another way of doing things, about compassionate management as opposed to traditional management.
“The more we serve others, the more you forget about yourself, the more compassionate, empathetic and humble you will become, and ultimately, happier,” she concludes. Listening to her makes you think she really could be onto something!!!
P.S. Leticia Ponce is the founder of LyL de Ultramar, the Master Franchise for Mexico of KA International, a leader in interior decoration franchises with over 400 stores on five continents. She has also worked as Quality Director for Ge Capital Largo Pl.
